Ok i wanna start off by saying this mv has a very deep meaning into it. At the first frame we see Hwasa lifeless at a bathtub and she is presumably dead and it’s probably suicide. Next scene we see her in the bed (deathbed if you will) with candles surrounding her with chairs creating a heart-like shape. Which means, people are showing her love after she is dead. At the next scene we see people at the table and Hwasa is fully covered in blood. If, you look closely you can see a heart in her hand. She is serving those people her heart but, they still look unsatisfied and and are picking out mistakes. Next at 1:08 we see something red covering all of their heads. This cloth symbolises our society’s standards than refrain us from seeing a person’s hard work and talent.

some people say the song is about herself. But this is not just what she says to herself.
‘Maria’ has a similar pronunciation as ‘Mal-i-ya’ in Korean. Maria is the name of Hwasa as you know, and ‘Mal-i-ya’ means ‘saying’ or ‘speaking’. In the lyrics Hwasa does not just say “Maria Maria”, she says “Maria, Mal-i-ya”. In other words, “Maria says”. This song is about what Maria says to haters. She uses a bilingually pronounced, similar language to warn haters and at the same time mock them in a polite manner.

She’s taunting haters in a way that takes the action of throwing tears to them who want her to be unhappy, saying “tears are here”. She says "Yet-da, nunmul” in Korean, the meaning of “Yet-da” is a cynical expression that ‘Here it is’. But because it’s a word for a rude person, she uses an informal expression. ‘nunmul’ means tears. Therefore, the four-letter short-expression “Yet-da, nunmul” is interpreted as ‘Hey poor guys, tears are here you’ve been looking for. are you satisfied now?‘. This is why she is a real queen. To add one thing, I think she should have used the middle finger to throw tears in the part “Yet-da, nunmul”.

My name is Maria and this song really hits me. I'm struggling to embrace my authentic self because Im afraid that people will judge me so, I keep it by myself. I'm really tired inside of keeping it bec I feel suffocated.😢 The idea of fitting in your environment or must say the ideal world for me and afraid that I will disappoint people who are closest to me. I suffered from anxiety and depression which I keep it also in myself.
